Garden club

Ohakune Garden Club monthly meeting was held at the home of Bev Kerr and Ian Harrison Flower Competition: Bulb Competition: 1st, Edith Beavis; 2nd Lois McQuarrie. Polyanthus: 1st, Tania Mott; 2nd, Merrilyn George; 3rd, Tania Mott. Shrub of Choice: 1st, Merrilyn George; 2nd, Merrilyn George; 3rd equal, Bev Kerr and Ian Harrison. Flower of Choice: lst, Bev Kerr; 2nd, Edythe McLean; 3rd, Merrilyn George.

The concert is to be one of light entertainment and will include songs from The Mikado, The Sound of Music, as well as popular sixties and seventies songs. The choir's conductor and tutor for the second term has bcen popular Taihape soprano Marie O'Leary. Marie will also sing solos during the evening. Other performers are Ray Wcsselson (bass), and the popoular Spectrum Dancers from Ohakune. The accompanist will be pianist Helen Gordon who has just returned from a nationwide concert tour. Compere will be Michael Abraham who is guaranteed to make the evening go with a swing, say the organisers. Supper will be served and tickets are now available.
