Dairy owners Rendezvous

Rendezvous Dairy proprietors John and Annette Schrier are at the begining of a "quiet time" after handing over the business to Allan and Jill Smith.

John says he's going to miss the contact with the many friends he's made over the ten years the couple have run the

dairy. "It was hard handing over the keys," he said. In the mean time they are helping Jill and

Allan ease into the running of the Goldfinch Street dairy. "They '11 get different customers and will make new friends," says John. The Schriers took over the dairy after John worked as bakery production manager for

John Gould. Annette had worked at Skiers' Inn dairy for ten years before that so they knew what they were in for. Annette was born and raised ,in Rangataua, where-they live now, and John came from

Taranaki where he worked as a baker. John says he has six months to go before he retires and will look for a job for that time. He says he'll look at anything. The couple are not interested in moving away from the area. "Why move when you've got everything you could want right here?" said John. "It's been a terrific experience, we've met a lot of people and made a lot.of friends." Allan Smith worked for Telecom for 24 years six months and Jill gave up her job as Ohakune Primary School secretary to take on the dairy. Jill had worked at a number of jobs before, including school bus driving.
