Waimarino pianists placed
The Music Section of the Wanganui Competitions attracted entries from seven Waimarino youngsters. All pupils of Mrs A. Greenwood, they gained
placings in each class entered and enjoyed and will have benefited by the experience, says their teacher. The Music Competitions were held in the Opera House, and the
competitors thoroughly enjoyed playing the new Steinway. "A nine feet Concert Grand must have seemed overwhelmingly large to the younger children but what a wonderful
experience for them to play such a beautiful piano," she said. Results were: Under9 Piano Solo 2nd, Tai Cotter, VHC Megan Enright. Piano Duet 2nd, Tai & Megan. Restricted - Commenced tuition after 1st September 1989, 1st Tai Cotter. Electronic Organ 10 & under 13, 2nd Lindsay Chan. 11 & Under 13, Test, 3rd Sina Cotter; VHC Jason Enright; HC Aeneas O'Sullivan. Own, Selection: 1st Sina Cotter; HC Jason & Aeneas. Sightreading: 3rd Jason Enright.
Jazz: 2nd= Aeneas & Jason; 3rd Sina Cotter. J.S. Bach: 3rd Jasop Enright. Contemporarj): 2nd Hason Enright; 3rd= Sina & Aeneas. Duet: 1st Aeneas O'Sullivan & Jason Enright; 2nd Tai & Sina Cotter. Rachel Chan's placings in the 13 & under 15 section were: Test, 2nd; Own Selection, 1st; Sightreading, 2nd; Contemporary, 2nd; Jazz, 1st; 1 Mut Sonata or Sonatena, 1st; Quick Study, 2nd, Piece given by the judge 2 weeks before competitions; J.S. Bach, 1st and Southgate Cup.
