Waiouru centre losing supervisor

The Waiouru Day Care Centre is losing its siipcrvisor at the end of next week. Julie Yardley has been supervisor since January 1988 and is

leaving Waiouru with her husband Mike and son Conor, to move to Trentham where Mike has been posted. Julie has found a new position at the Fraser

Crescent Day Care Centre in Upper Hutt and Will take up the position as supervisor there. Julie is a trained primary school teacher and taught at Waiouru

Primary School when she was here in 1983/84. She d;cided to work at the day care centre so she could be with her young son Conor who is now two years old. "The people of Waiouru are fortunate with the high standard of the Waiouru Day Care, compared to others I have visited," she Julie. The centre is a lot bigger than a lot of others and brighter, especially since it was done up after a fire in 1988. Other staff at the centre are Anne Lowe, Aroha Solomon, Pauline Truscott and re-

lievers Jo Howie, Wendy Van Lent and Trudy Hullena. The centre is licensed for a maximum of 30 children and is open 7.30am until 5pm, Mondly to Friday. Each week the centre includes a theme in all their activities. One week their theme was the Post Office and the children wrote letters and took them to the Post Office and saw what happens to letters. They also had a visit from the local postie on her bike. Another week they , chose the ambulance, Julie says by familiarising the children

with the ambulance if a child had to ride in the ambulance they would not be unprepared and would be able to deal with the situation. Funding for the centre comes from fees, raffles, and Government grants. The centre offers a voucher system of paymcnt which costs

$81.50 for 42 1/2 hours. The vouchers can be used at any time. At the moment there is no replacement supervisor. Any person with playcentre, primary school or kindergarten training would be suitable for the position.
