HELICOPTER CALL-OUT The Waimarino Rescue Trust helicopter, piloted by Jim Reed was called to Whakapapa ski field on 13 August to transport an injured skier to Waikato hospital. The 18 year-old Aucklander fell three metres and suffered a neck injury OHAKUNE TELECOM VANS H1T BY THIEVES Several Telecom vehicles parked in the Ohakune depot have been interfered with over the past two weeks, including nine on one night. Petrol and tools worth about $400 have been taken by thieves. TRACTOR RECOVERED A tractor stolen on Monday 14 August was recovered in the Rangataua State Forest, rolled and damaged. DREADNOUGHT BICYCLES Police recovered a bicycle on the Dreadnought Road this week after it had been reported missing from Rangataua. Also found was the bicycle pictured, which is yet to be claimed.

LOG FIRE STOLEN The Taylor Memorial Lodge at Pokaka was broken into twice this week and a wood stove fire stolen. A chalet opposite the lodge was also broken into. Police are yet to contact the absentee owners of the chalet. CAR FORCED OFF MT ROAD Last Sunday aftemoon a car was forced off the Ohakune Mountain Road just below the 9km barrier. Police were looking for a brown Toyota involved in the incident, which led to the affected car rolling, and are continuing with positive enquiries.

TELEPHONE SMASHED Vandals smashed the Ohakune Junction public telephone causing $1000 worth of damage. Police ask members of the public to report any suspicious activity associated with public telephones. DENTAL CLINIC ENTERED The Raetihi Dental Clinic was broken into recently and a wall clock, stapler and felt pens stolen. CIGARETTES STOLEN The Ritz Cafe in Seddon Street Raetihi was broken into on Monday and $800 worth of cigarettes and confectionery stolen. Police enquiries are continuing. THANK-YOU, FROM RAETIHI POLICE Raetihi Police would like to extend their appreciation to those people who are coming forward with information on crimes committed in the town. They say without such information their job is made much more difficult.
