Gearing up for Traveltrade
Work is proceeding apace behind the scenes at the QEII Army Memorial Museum in Waiouru as the 'back-room boys' (and girl!) prepare the exhibition stand to be used by the Ruapehu region to promote the area at the Travel Trade Show in Auckland on 25, 26 and 27 August.
It was commissioned by Taumarunui's Promotion and Development Association together with the Waimarino's South Ruapehu Business Association and supported by local businesses. The NZ Army display staff in Waiouru are busy preparing the display screens, mannequins and threedimensional centrepiece feature in the Army Museum workshops before transporting the exhibition up to Auckland in time for the Travel Trade Show. They plan to have it ready for assembly on
site at the Auckland Showgrounds on the 21st August. The centrepiece feature consists of a montage of gear and equipment associated with the various sporting and recreational activities available in the Ruapehu region kayaks, skis, saddles, fishing rods etc. During the time the
show is open to the trade and to the public it will be staffed by Aroha Rudkin of the ■
TDPDA, Sue Allomes of the SRBA and three military personnel from Waiouru. »
