The last regular force recruit class for this year had their maxch out parade in Waiouru last Tuesday. Basic class number 258 consisted of 28 males all of who completed the ten week

training course involving drill work, Rifle shooting, physical training and administrative training. The recruits now join their respective Corps which will be infantry, ordinance or gunners. Reviewing Officer

Major Gray said the overall standard of the class was good and this was reflected in their drill work at the parade. Major Gray went on to comment that although the Army was subject to Government cutbacks the standard of the courses and training undertaken by the Army

has never been higher. Prizes awarded were: Obstacle course Prize to 'Section One': Drill prize was won by 'Section One': Cross Country prize was won by 'Gunner McKenzie", Best shot prize was won by 'Private Taku', Best all rounder was 'Private Thompson'
