The Scheme was released to the public in June 1986 and is now substantially out of date. Reform in the area of Local Government and the laws relating to resource management (including the Town and Country Planning Act 1977, will result in the establishment of a new regional organisation (the Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Council) in October. This body will have the option of preparing a regional resource management plan for the region. Together, these circumstances make it unnecessary to pursue the Proposed Section One of the Regional Planning Scheme. Dated this 31st day of July 1989. C. J.
