Young racers like Ruapehu
An innovative approach to training and just plain hard work are working wonders for the Race Department at Whakapapa. Already two National
A Team women, Adele and Annelise Coberger, have decided to head north from the South Island to join the Whakapapa Training Programme and rumour
has it more are on the way. The Race Department at Whakapapa now has three National Womens A Team members - the Coberger girls join Taupo's Lisa Powell. Whakapapa Ski School Manager, Patrick Simmen and Head Race Coach, Louis Blanchard are delighted to have the girls join their programme. Ahnalise is the top women's slalom racer in the country and is rated the 19th junior women's racer in the world. "The addition of these girls raises the standard of the Race Programme and gives the younger skiers
something to aspire to," said Patrick Simmen. "We will all be working hard to assure these girls get the best possible coaching and mental preparation." Whakapapa hosts the Kiwi Lager National Ski Championships on 11 to 15 September.
