Waiouru's new Health Watch Committee's prime coneern at the moment is the inadequate stale of the town's health rooms, according to committee secretary Gordon Mottram. ' The newly elected committee is led by Ms Kathy Frater, and last week's meeting was attended by 12 members, with two apologies. It was convened by Board's manager of service development and quality assurance David Lord. Mr Mottram said the committee plan to pressure the Wanganui Area Health Board to upgrade the rooms. The main problem with the facility is the poor soundproofing between rooms, which mean privacy in consulting rooms in not adequate. The Army was asked to allow the use of the maternity annex building as health rooms, said Mr Mottram, but have declined saying the Area Health Board is responsible for providing the facility.
