Close game for Raetihi seniors
Raetihi were close to wirining their second division seniors' rugby game against Waverley on Saturday, but a late penalty failed to put them in the lead.
The game leaves Raetihi a battle with three other teams to gain a place in the Wanganui Division Two rugby competition. Close scores throughout the game made it interesting, with Raetihi ahead 7-0 at one stage, followed by two near- tries. However Waverley scored a converted try taking the half time score to 7-6. Raetihi's tries came from Jim Beazley and Thomas Waara, with Thomas kicking a penalty. Waverley's 13 points came from John Jeffries, Sam Bereicegu and Sean Pleasants. Ohakune Karioi loose to Taihape Ohakune Karioi reached the bottom of their slide on Saturday 3nd are now last on the Second . Division list below Taihape Pirates. Ohakune Karioi's forward pack let them down, leaving Taihape strong. The Pirates led 10-4 at half time. Ohakune's 10 points
came from Ray Brown, returned to first fiveeighth and P Cornelius. Taihape's 13 points came from Dean Meadows and Tony Marrow. Wanganui HSOB beat Waiouru Waiouru played an
even matched Wanganui High School Old Boys on Saturday, loosing 19-13. Better goal kicking by Wanganui's Dion M aua put them ahead with three great penalty kicks and a conversion. Waiouru led 10-7 at half time. Waiouru's backs put the pressure on at times
especially Rob Barclay, Pita Lloyd, Steve Guiney and Greg Tetzlaff. Best Waiouru forwards were Steve Cameron, Tahi Morton and Graham Scruton. Waiouru's Steve Guiney and Rob Barclay scored tries and Lachlan Harding kicked a penalty and a conversion.
