Fire praise

On Saturday 1 July at 5 am our Waiouru Army Fire Brigade answered a call to a house fire in Ruanui Street. Most residents thought the house would be lost, but with the speed and skill of local boys (many of them volunteers) most of the house was saved. Weather conditions were many degrees below freezing and the water was forming ice as soon as it hit the

road. The boys themselves were frozen but never let it deter them from their work. It is comforting to know that one is residing in an area where we have such an efficient and experienced fire brigade responding to our emergencies. To the boys who attended the fire, a job very well done. You all deserve a medal. Ruanui St. Resident
