Region's logo competition
The search is on to discover a suitable logo for the new ManawatuWanganui Regional Council. Transitional Committee members will be available to visit schools throughout the region to encourage youngsters to take part, with a BMX bike the prize in the 14 years and younger section. A cash prize of $500 will be the incentive for adults. Council General Manager Designate Reg Barrett said the new region had a rich cultural and geographic diver-
sity which he hoped could be captured in the winning design. Entry in the competition will be open to all sectors of the public over the new region, which extends from Eketahuna to Tau-
marunui, with a graphic artist available to put the finishing touches to the winning concept. The competition will be launched Tuesday 18 July, with a closing date for entries on 29 August.
