Tumblers in Napier

Turoa Tumblers' senior gymnasts travelled to Napier to compete at the Hawkes Bay /- Poverty Bay Open Championships on 15 & 16 July. Craig Bennett, an exSouth Island gymnast, now serving in the Army in Waiouru, competed for the Tumblers in the National Open Mens grade. He didn't

have a spectacular day but thoroughly enjoyed being back in the gym competition. Shaun McLean had a good competition and was placed 2nd on vault and with Warwick Hays and two Gisborne boys won the bronze team medal in Grade 5. Carys Hubbard continues her silver streak run by coming 2nd overall in the Junior Elite grade. She also came 1st on beam. The gymnasts now have a month to concentrate on training before the North Island Championships in Gisborne followed by the Nation als in Auckland at the beginning of September.
