Riders home on a high note

Four Karioi Endurance members attended a ride at Whaka Forest on 25 & 26 June, the last of the rides for the season. It was held at Whaka Village, two kilometres south from Rotorua. It was a trail ride, divided into three sections. All four Waimarino riders rode in the 80 km event. The first day was wet and very cold, the riders had to be out for three hours, going through three checkpoints and had to be in before 3 1/2 hours, riding 40 km a day. Riders were judged on style and horsemanship. Jeff Morris on his Anglo Arab horse Bruno and Lou Cadwallar on Waimeha Integrity qualified for the second day. Jeff Morris on Bruno was place 2nd

in the 80 km with 294 points and Lou Cadwallar on his Anglo Arab Waimeha Integrity, was place 5 th. Jeff Morris had been riding Femming Fari owned by Fred and Jacki Collett, Jeff had done well on Femming Fari at the 80 km Karioi Endurance Ride, taking 2nd place in 6 hours, 27 minutes. They took 4th place in the 120 km North Island Championships, in 6 hours, 54 minutes, 6 seconds. Members who attended the Endurance Rides at Lismore Forest at Wanganui, where Lukey Albert, Rosalleen Morris, Bruce Fisher, and Jeff Morris. At Palmerston North, Lukey Albert and Lou Cadwallar were place lst equal. Next season starts around October this year.
