OPERATIONS MANAGER OHAKUNE HOSTEL Due to the resignation of the present manager, a vacancy has arisen for the position of manager at Ohakune Hostel. This 28 bed hostel is centrally located in the busy ski village of Ohakune and is a focal point for all outdoor activities in the Tongariro National Park. The appointment calls for a manager with the organisational ability required for effective administration of the hostel and to ensure that systems of cleanliness and hostel security are maintained. The new manager would be a skilled communicator who feels at home with tourists from a variety of cultures and enjoys mixing with and meeting people, ^he ability to solve work related problems and make decisions affecting the hostel is important as is customer reception. A good knowledge of local tourist attractions and local tour operators is desirable and a broader knowledge of the region, with an interest in skiing would be helpful. A comfortable one-bedroom cottage at nominal rent along with free electricity and telephone are provided with the postition. The pay rate is currently $6.28 per hour. The appointee would be expected to commence manager training on August 1st and assume management the follwoing week.
