MBE for Waiouru man
Waiouru Army Museum Display Artist, Warrant Officer Dave Fitzwater, was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (M.B.E), in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Warrant Officer Fitzwater joined the New Zealand Army as a display artist in 1973. In 1978 he was seconded to the Queen Elizabeth II Army Memorial Museum in Waiouru. He has overseen the installation of all the museum's dis-
plays, including fashioning all the mannequins for the museum's most recent Maori Battalion display. Warrant Officer Fitzwater is recognised nationally for his skill in making life-like manniquins. A number of the warriors in the
Maori Battalion display are recognisable as museum staff. Warrant Officer Fitzwater is an avid volunteer ranger for the Acclimatisation Society and also a Firearms Inspector. He is actively involved in outdoor pursuits and firearms safety.
