College musical wows

Months of behind-the-scenes preparation by staff and pupils of Ruapehu College eulminated in the

contemporary musical extravaganza 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat', staged recently.

The production retold the biblical story of Joseph, son of Jacob, through song and dance. Members of the pub-

lic lucky enough to have seen the show said they were astonished, not only by the obvious singing and acting talent of the students, but also the totally efficient lighting and sound crews. The production's visual effects also prompted considerable comment. Producers say the wide range of styles and tempos used during the show called for great versatility by the orchestra and chorus. Musical direction was undertaken by Shelagh Buck. The impressive back-drop was painted by Chris Melody.
