Pipiriki Colonial House closed since March

Pipiriki is in the doldrums over the community's Colonial House which has remained closed since March. Officials say there is not enough money to pay a full-time curator to run the historic building which is only opened on demand. The Colonial House was run by an ACCESS training scheme over the summer period. Conservation Officer Dennis McDonnell said a grant may be forthcoming from the New Zealand Tourism and Publicity Department for interpretation work in the township.
