Waiouru still unbeaten

Division two team Waiouru maintained their unbeaten record by emerging victorious over Waverley in Wanganui division two qualifying rugby on the weekend. Promising player Lachlan Harding enjoyed a personal triumph 011 Saturday when he notched up a century, giving him a total of 107 points this season. Harding, who had a good day with his goalkicking, made three penalty goals and a conversion. The only other player to notch up game points were Rick Tawhiri, who scored a try. Waiouru played hard

against a strong Waverley team who showed good .tackling technique. Three Waiouru players were sent to the sin bin in the first half and again in the second half of play. Spectators saw Waiouru apparently become frustrated by Waverley's untiring efforts to gain control of the game. Waiouru led throughout and finally won the match, 15-12. Raetihi v Tech Old Boys Raetihi rugby players, determined to give the weekend's game their all, came up against a just-as -determined Tech College Old Boys, at Wanganui. The teams were level-

pegging at 3-all towards the end of the first half, when Tech came back with a try right on the half time

buzzer. Wayne Te Huia scored Raetihi's two penalty goals, with Tech finally taking the match

10-6. Good play came from backs Gordon, McDonnell and Hawira, with support from forwards

Harvey, Renata and Tangaroa. Ohakune v Wanganui HSOB Ohakune put up a good fight against an impossibly strong Wanganui side at Spriggins Park on Saturday. Wanganui led 12-0 at half time and the team finished with four tries to one.

Ohakune was plagued with injury problems right from the first whistle, but refused to give in. Backs Mareikura, Wilson and Cornelius enjoyed good games, with forwards Matthews, Condon and Loach lending support in the forwards. Pat Cornelius scored the team's sole try.
