Council revamp dates set
November 1 this year is the date new District Councils t^ke office all round the country - but a lot of work needs to be done before then. Election procedures have to be arranged, an information campaign organised and candi-
dates found to sit on the new Councils. The programme to achieve the target date has been set and the roll of electors for the Rangitikei District Council will be available for inspection by
July 11. All ratepayers should check they are on the roll. On July 29 a publicity campaign begins using direct mail and circulars to all households. A freephone service will also be available.
On Friday September 1 nominations for the new District Councillors close at noon and there is no provision for late nominations. Postal voting will start on 29 September and the official polling day is Saturday October 14.
