An insurance policy tailor-made for army personnel is to be launched at Army Training Group, Waiouru early next month.
Lance Langdori, managing director of High Country Brokers Ltd, was commissioned by the then commander of ATG, Colonel Bret Bestic, to conduct a survey ,of the domestic insurance market available to army personnel. He then set about devising an insurance cover specifically for the New Zealand soldier which included extraordinary cover not available under other policies. The insurance policy that is being marketed as a package covers
army kit, personal effects and household contents, extending to Australia if the soldier is transferred. Originally solely for married personnel, the scheipe has been extended to cover single men and women. Mr Langdon said the policy is uniquely structured so that personnel posted to other bases in New Zealand do not have to take out a brand new insurance policy. The package will be available to all army personnel in New
Zealand. The administration however, will remain in the Waimarino. Mr Langdon will be involved with marketing and promotion of the package, while Marie Haworth will be involved with administration at High Country" Brokers office in Raetihi. Mr Langdon said Royal Insurance, the official underwriters of the package, are very enthusiastic about the scheme. He is confidant that the insurance package will prove popular with army personnel and said High Country Brokers may look at company representation in the South
