1990 WAIMARINO EVENTS TO BE COORDINATED

A committee is being formed to co-ordinate Waimarino activities for commemorating 1990. Its first meeting is to be held at the Maungarongo Marae on Monday May 29 at 5.30pm. So far there are about eight volunteers on the committee and more are sought. The New Zealand 1990 Commission is making funds available for 1990 projects and events which "reflect the New Zealand way of life and future", according to project adviser Paula Brettkelly. The Commission is compiling a national calendar of events for the year, and local committees are being set up designed to promote more activities.
