Merv's mountain

Work never stops at Turoa Skifield. With nearly nine kilometres oi cable stretching up the mountain, maintenance is an ali year-round job. Operations Manager Merv Moses heads a team of eight which must ensure any skifield equipment meet strict Ministry of Transport safety standards. They even go as far as to X-ray the steel chairlifl cables. During the ski season Merv's crew grow to 35 and their duties include de-icing and operating the lifts, road clearing and snow grooming. This may sound glamorous, but working through the nighl grooming the snow for the next day's skiers is a demanding task. Merv is confidant the equipment is in peak form for the coming season.
