Banner on parade

For the first time since its presentation to the Royal New Zealand Corps of Transport, the official banner was paraded in Waiouru on Saturday during the Transport Corp Day.

The banner was first presented to the Corp of Transport at a ceremony in Wellington in March 1988. The Parade Commander for the day was Lieutenant Colonel Clive Sinclair, and the Reviewing Officer, Brigadier Leighs. Long serving soldier Corporal Houia, was presented with a Long Service Certificate for

22 years service. Corporal Houia joined the Regular Forces in July 1967 and has served in South Vietnam. Cpl Houia retires in July. Staff Sergeant Rukupo also received a Long Service Certificate, for over 20 years service. SSgt Rukupo saw duty in South Vietnam, Malaya, Singapore, Sinai, Hawaii, Antartica and Fiji. He

retires in June this year. A further presentation was made to WOl Brown, who received a bar to his

Long Service and Good Conduct medal, for serving 32 years with the New Zealand Army.
