Ruapehu Region At Snow Show Together

The Ruapehu region is to be comprehensively represented at the Auckland Snow Show this year. It will be the first time the varying Ruapehu businesses and tourist activities have joined together to promote the region in a united way, says Ruapehu South Business Association chairman Sue Allomes. At the recent Wellington trade show, Ohakune, Raetihi, the Waiouru Army Museum . and Taumarunui got together to represent the region, which was a new direction for promotion of the area. At the Auckland Snow Show eight display bays have been booked, and experience gained from the Wellington trade show will be added to there. Commercial tourist operators and motelliers from Ohakune, Raetihi and Taumarunui, along with Turoa will be presenting a united front at the show, focusing on the attractions of the local area and its abundance of tourist activities as well as the quality of skiing on Mt Ruapehu. The intention, say organisers, is to market the entire region as an altemative to South Island campaigns. The plan is that individual local businesses are not going to compete with each other during this promotion, bqt will join forces.
