Waiouru takes out Raetihi

Second Division Wanganui Rugby Union teams Waiouru and Raetihi fought a physical battle at Raetihi on Saturday, with Waiouru taking the game 35 points to 3.

Waiouru used their backs to much better effect in the game and was on top in the lineouts, and Prop Shaun

1 homas showed great form. Waiouru's Mark Vaurasi scored two runaway tries and Haig Elgar, Greg Tetzlaff, Steve Gumey, Tai Morton and Rick Tawhiri scored a try each for Waiouru. Rob Barclay kicked two conversions and Lachlan Harding kicked a penalty goal. Raetihi suffered without the control of the back line by Steve Gordon, who has been suspended. Raetihi's three points came from a penalty goal by Thomas Waara. Ratana vs Ohakune Karioi Ohakune lost against Ratana's heavier forwards at Ohakune on Saturday, leading to a final score of 17-4 to Ratana. Ohakune won some good lineout ball, Richard Mathews played well at number eight for Ohakune but Ratana played a better team game. Ohakune Karioi took control of the game with good scrumming and good tackling by the backs. D Waara scored after constant pressure on the Raetihi

line. M Donghi converted. Raetihi scored a converted try on full time. Raetihi's player of the day was W Te Huia and for Ohakune M Donghi was picked. Ohakune Karioi play Wanganui Pirates at Ohakune next Saturday.
