NO CHATEAU T BAR BANDS THIS SKI SEASON

Going to the Chateau T Bar at Whakapapa Village to see a live band will not be an option this winter as the management have decided not to use the T Bar as a venue. Hosting bands has become uneconomic, says Chateau manager Gavin Fletcher. He said the cost for a band of $3000 plus providing food and accommodation means charging a high cover charge and that paying a cover charge is a "bone of contention" with patrons. There will be entertainment provided but in a different form, said Mr Fletcher. Blues bands and the like with no cover charge will run four nights from Thursday each week in the Chateau Tavern. Entertainment will be scheduled for Sunday nights in the T Bar as well. The Chateau will be using the T Bar for conference business in future. Mr Fletcher said this type of business was not going to replace skiers but just added "another string to the bow".
