Bulletin has future

The Ruapehu Bulletin is to continue despite the financial troubles of its publisher, John Woods.

This was confirmed today by the newly-ap-pointed Receivers of Ruapehu Publishers Ltd. The Receivership was announced on Friday following the

bankruptcy on April 7 of John Woods. Under a debenture over the company, Receivers were appointed to continue trading the company on a long

term basis. John Woods has been employed to help run the newspaper and all existing staff have been retained. However, the Bulletin's sister publications have changed hands. Turn page 6

Bulletin has future

Frompagel New Zealand Geographic, New Zealand Adventure and a proposed skiing magazine called New Zealand Snow Sports are to be published by a separate company. The titles have been sold to a new company

planning to call itself Outside Publications. Its name has yet to be approved. A spokesman for the new publishers, Mr Richard Davy, said today that the magazines would continue to be published without interruption.

New Zealand Geographic's second issue would be distributed by the end of April, about two weeks late because of the bankruptcy proceedings. However, Mr Davy assured advertisers and readers that the next issue would be coming out. "The Geographic is a very successful publication with 7000 subscribers after just one issue," Mr Davy said. "All shop copies have been sold and we're planning for a considerable growth this year." Adventure, an action sports publication, would continue with six issues a year. Snow Sports, a new skiing magazine, would be launched as planned at the Auckland Ski Show early in May. It is intended that the Bulletin will continue to handle Geographic, Adventure and Snow Sports subscriptions management under contract to the new owners. On its account the Bulletin will continue with plans for six special issues of "Ruapehu 89" during the ski season and with a proposed glossy promotional brochure for the Ohakune district.
