Good cards from Sunday
Sunday's golf was played in windy conditions but some very good cards came forward. James Ennis scored 73, Don Windle (his second game for the season) scored 66 nett, and Stuart Magee scored
67 and Tom Spry 69. Juniors: S. Arahanga, 66 nett; C. Pepene, 69; T. Geraghty, and B. Tumataroa both 71. Twos were scored by T. Geraghty, D. Windle and J. Ennis. One of the day's highlights was Tom
Spry scoring a two on hole number 13. The Roarer's Mug went to James Ennis, one of the likely lads who really knows how to put it to good use. Concluding this report are a few quotes from famous golfers. "I don't say my game is bad, but if I grew tomatoes they'd come up sliced." "My best score is 103, but I've only been playing for 15 years." "For most amateurs, the best wood in the bag is the pencil." "Competitive golf is played mainly on a 5 1/2 course, the space between your ears." "Fm hitting my woods just great but I'm having a terrible time getting out of them." New golf books: "How to get the most distance from your shanks", and "How to get the correct stance on your fourth putt." "I play in the low 80's - if it's any hotter than that I won't play." Sponsors for the day were Farm Pak and Ragtime.
