DOC CALLS FOR UNSAFE TREES TO BE CUT DOWN
A number of matai trees in the Raetihi Parapara Road reserve are dead or near dead and should be removed before they become dangerous, the Department of Conservation has advised the council. DoC has offered to seek advice for council on the possible milling of the trees from timber millers. If milling is not economical councillors have suggested the timber be cut up for firewood for local pensioners.
