WAIMARINO DISTRICT COUNCIL CLOSURE OF ROAD TO ORDINARY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC PURSUANT to the Transport (Vehicular Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that for the purpose of a car rally to be run by the Wellington Car Club (Ino) the following roads will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period indicated hereunder. During the period of closure provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic to use the road between runs in the event. Periods of closure: Mangaeturoa North Road from the junction with the Raetihi - Pipiriki Road to the gates of the Winstone Afforestation property from 8.40 am to 12.10 pm, Saturday 15 April 1989. Middle Road in its entirety from 9.55 am to 12.50 pm, Saturday 15 April 1989. Oruakukuru Road in its entirety from 12.15 pm to 3.30 pm, Saturday 15 April 1989. REGIONAL PROMOTION OFFICER This community desperately needs the services of a progressive thinking enthusiastic and capable person to work in liaison with the Ruapehu South Business Association and Taumarunui Promotions Associations. Varied work would include: Attending promotional shows, handling local and national - advertising, working to generate community involvement, organise exciting special events being sporting, cultural or just plain fun, and to generate local or national company sponsorship for those events, handle tourism related problems and enquiries, develop the region's potential as a convention and tournament centre. The objective is to get the region back on the tourist map and firing on all 8 cyclinders, creating needed employment and a sense of activity. At present the job is only for 5 weeks, but our elected council are currently considering a grant application which will make this a full - time job, also dependant on your own funds through sponsorship subscriptions, advertising and commissions. With 1990 just around the corner it's a great challenge for an enthusiastic person.
