Aussies in Waiouru

The second class of the royal Military College, Duntroon in Australia are visiting New Zealand for a patrolling exercise in the Waiouru Training Area at present. Exercise Timor is a

demanding leadership exercise for 130 staff cadets and 35 officer and NCO staff. Patrols were deployed early morning on March 1 with very little food and total unfamiliarity to face the demands of the volcanic plateau and

Kaimanawa Ranges. The Commandant of the Royal Military College Major General Murray Blake has accompanied his cadets to New Zealand and spent Friday March 3 walking with some of the patrols in the high country. The Australian visitors left Waiouru on Monday March 6 having had lunch with fellow officer cadet at the Officer Cadet School. They then travelled to Rotorua to be hosted at the Hinemihi Marae and a short tour of the Whakarewarewa Thermal Area and the Rainbow Springs before departing New Zealand from Auckland on the afternoon of March 7.
