If you live in Waiouru we have over 70 cadets aged 16 1/2 to 17 1/2 from all over New Zealand who would appreciate the occasional short break away from normal duties, and there are also those who live too far away from Waiouru to get home for two four-day leave periods. The idea of the scheme is to give the Cadets an informal "home away from home" environment and help them develop as good citizens. In past years RF Cadet/sponsor relationships have continued well after their 12 months in Waiouru. 2. What sort of activities would you do with your "sponsor Cadet'? a. At home for a family meal. b. Outings and visits around the local area (e.g. skiing at Turoa, fishing at Turangi, shopping in Taihape or Taupo). c. Relaxing at home and helping out with some of the chores (remember he is not a permanent babysitter, gardener or wood chopper). 3. The scheme will start on 5 April and run through to Graduation on 14 December. More details are available on application. If you are interested, please forward the following return to Regular Force Cadet School, ATG, Waiouru - Major Stuart Gray (Ext 586) or Captain Gayle Dickie (Ext 530).
