Civil Defence show

Nearly 1000 people will be involved in the production of the Civil Defence and Emergency Services Tattoo to be held at Cook's Gardens in Wanganui on March 18. There will be just under 900 people performing with the 16 brass and pipe bands, rescue teams, childrens displays, Police, Fire Service and the N.Z. Army. And to make sure that all goes well on the night, there is a production team of about 100. The Commissioner of Civil Defence, Central Zone, Mr Barrie Sinclair, said undoubtedly the massed band displays, which include brass bands playing excerpts from the 1812 Overture, will be a highlight, but one of the more exciting displays will be of disaster rescue techniques.
