WAIOURU PUBLICAN DIES

Sadly missed by Waiouru will be Ron Biss (56) who died suddenly last week. Mr Biss was the publican at the Oasis Hotel in Waiouru for five years. He died suddenly at his new home in Ohope on Sunday morning, February 26, where he and his wife Betty had reeently moved. They planned to run the newly opened Ohope Chartered Club, and enjoy their semi-re-tirement there. About 50 Waiouru residents travelled to Whakatane to attend his funeral on Wednesday, adding to the over 200 people who came from all over New Zealand to lend support to his wife Betty and their three children Wayne, Allan, Tracey, and his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
