RURAL SUBDIVISION APPLICATION DECLINED

An application to subdivide a block of land in the Makotuku Survey District (near Horopito) into three 4.2 hectare lots was declined by the Waimarino District Council. The council's reasons were that the plan did not comply with the District Scheme and that access to the lots would not have reasonable visibility onto State Highway Four, as required by the Ministry of Transport. The section of road that the property fronts onto is a short distance from the SH4 and SH49A intersection which has seen a number of fatal accidents. Problems with access to the lots was created by cuttings and fill areas
