A prospectus was drawn up and approved by the meeting and authorised to be published by Friday next. The following gentleman were elected to the Board of Directors Messrs F. LaEoche secretary., : ' ■.. ' The Secretary w*is requested to send the prospectus to Messrs l)evore and Martin Solicitors, to-be put into legal' form and on its return to be published same in the Times of today. [Messrs Devore and Martin have replied to .the effect that a certain clause in the Act of 1901 j>rohibits the publication of a prospectus In ang^orm until the Company, is registered, consequently the prospectus cannot be issued. To our mind it appears.to be a legislative blunder, that the proposal* or prospectus to put before the public to form a company can only, and must be issued aftev the company is formed and registered especially m the prospectus
isthewiy foundation o_ ilm Cu.u I ;u,ii.y and on its conditions the public are asked to subscribe. It is. however our intention to publish the substance of the prospectus, in our next issue. Mr Hood stated that he would guarantee from 40 to 50 cows to start with.
This, our Earth, produces this day sufficient for our existence;- this,' our Earth, produces not only a sufftcieTiev, hut a superabundance, and pours a cornucopia of good things down upon us. lunther, it produces sufficient for stores ard granaries to be filled to the roof trees for years ahead. I verily bo-love tli at the earth produces in one year enough food for thirty years Why, then, have we not enough? Wiiy do people die of starvation or lea' a miserable existence on the verge .of it.? Why have millions upon millions to toil from morningl until even ing- just to gain a mere crust of bread? Because the absolute lack of organisa- ! ti'on by which such, labour, should produce its effects; because of" the lack of dis ribution, the absolute lack of . she idea that such things, are possible. Ts Tay, even to mention such things, to say they are possible, is criminal with m-siiy—madness could hardly go furithur.—Richard Jeffries.

The local pou»dkeep.er stated at the Road Board meeting on Maud ay, that certain horses made a practice of breaking out of a paddock and going straightway- for the Pound, where they had been so frequently before in durance vile. We have frequently heard of the mere gexius iro^rb in distress or, too lazy, to earn its own bread, purposely getting itsf If locked up to obtain food, or for the mere love of it. This., itself is sufficiently distressing, but to think such a degrading example should be followed by the ''noble steed" makes us blush for our species.
