Newtown Park Scandal
| Wellington-, September 13. I The report of the Court of Enquiry concerning the Newton Park scandal has been presented to Parliament. ! The repwiv states, ixter alia, that the j camp organisation and routine seem to have been very imperfect,, though several battaxlion commanders and their officers were willing and anxious to carry out their several duties. No sufficient brigade staff was appointed by the officer commanding the camp. "Comparatively few orders were is^ sued, but we have every reason to be- | lieve that the officers aud men in the camp carried out most of the orders issued to them, so far as they knew them, allowing for their inexperience, and that there was no want of a spirit of discipline on their part; in fact, they buffered much inconvenience and discomfort comparatively uncomplainingly,"
