A committee meeting of the Hakaru flower-show took place on the 7t!i. at the residence of Mrs. Sarah, It was found that a balance of 265. was in hand. It was thought by those present that a show might be held this year, and all agreed to' help as in former years. A general meeting- of ladies in the district is called for October Stb. when a new committee &c. will be formed. It is some live or six [years now, since a flower-show was •first held at the Hakaru and ea'.-h' j ear improves upon the former, so more interest is taken in the show each time it is held. As there is no charge for entries wo hope to have a still iarger show and all classes filled.

On Saturday, 21st. a meeting of the Mai■ gawai aiul District and Agricultural Association, will be held in the Hall at 7 o'clock p.m. when all who are interested it is hoped will be able to attend. It is agreed to hold a show this coming year. Several settlers have pasted a wish to include entile, and as there are to be sale yards erected, no doubt, it could be arranged to do so.

We hope soon to have a visit from Mr.. Glass, (the eneigetic managing Secretary of the Fanners' Union) and when .he comes let the farmers muster strong find and hear something for their good. It is quite certain that unless -the farmers combine, and form a union, so that they can have a voice ill the-matters relating to. themselves they will not get much help elsewhere. Agitate they must.
