Capture of a Supposed Ghost.

■ «• . ; We take the following- from the Herald:—Last night, as Mr. Arthur, auctioneer, was going along Upper ; Pitt-street, near Newton Eoad, about half past ten o'clock, he saw a young" man masquerading in th^ street, ap^ parently as "a ghost." He had on over his. clothing a singlet, and a , walkiug stick in his hand, to which was a* fetched a white handkerchief.. Mr. Arthur pursued and closed with , him, giving him a blow on the arm, which showed that he wns of a fleshy nature. Detectives Kennedy and Me j Mahon happened to be in the vicinity, I and Mr. Arthur handed the supposed . "ghost" over to them, and they ; brought him down to the High-street . police station. He is a young nfan of about 20 years of age, 'and gave liis , name at the a,police station as James j Low, and was charged with "behavjiour whereby a breach of the peace ;i was occasioned," He is not believed !to be tha original "ghost'" as there j] was no phosphorous about him,1 nor ; did he smell of stilphur. He wept free- : ly at the lockup. He was brought be[fore the Magistrate and remanded. The "phosphorous man" was in > Carlton Gore Eoad on Monday n;ght, J and chased a man into his own. gato. ?
