N.S.W. EXPERIENCES STORMY WEATHER

SYDNEY, February 17. Gales, heavy seas, dust storms and high seas are reported at various points in New South Wales. Gales Teaching 60 miles an hour unroofed buildings, ' tore down tele- . phone wires' and stripped crops around three towns near Junee, 90 miles north-east of Albury. This fellcws three days of wind storms in this area. Earlier in the week heavy rain washed away fences and caused other damage. A dust storm followed the gales and caused further damage. Eilsewhere rains '* and extreme weather are moderating, and a general improvement in crops and forage is noted. 5 Centres about the northerft rivers report that flood conditions are diminishing and that danger is now past. Water-logged fields are drying out under wai/n conditions and the Richmond, Manning ancl Clarence Rivers have almost retufned to normal, • Ketch Ton'ed to- Safety Heavy seas continued along the New South Wales coast during the week-end and s,wimmers at Sydney beaches were kept out of ihe \yater hy rough conditions and by quantities of weed in the surf. The 40ft. ketch- Unis J, which recently competed in the Sydney-ITobart yaeht raee, was towed to safety by the pilot steamer James Cook', after being at sea for two days without her rudder. The ketch was ca-ught in a south-easteiTy gale While sailiiig from Jervis Bay to Sydney. The seas carried away the rudder and 30 feet of railing and she was floodecl below. The crew hurned distress flares off Kiama on Thursday nigh't, but nobody responded, so the, ketch helcl on for Sydney.
