GISBORNE, February 17. As a result of eonfiicting advice given by officers of the" Health Department, the Cook Hospital is now in a (luandrary over the most suitable site for the new materity hospital for Gisborne. . The Director of Maternal .and Infant Welfare, Dr. Doris Gordon, says it should be on level* ground away from Hospital Hill, the instability of the hill in the event .of an earthquake being the deciding ^ictor. Other departmental officers say that the new unit should he on the hill beside the Cook Hospital. They claim that the deciding factor is availability of medical and other services possessed hy the parent hospital. Meanwhile, the hoard members have been requested hy the chairman, Mr. M. T. Trafford, to think over the question. It will he dealt with at the next meeting.
