WHAKATANE ELEVEN BEATS ROTORUA

Win On First Innings After | Poor Start ! Conditions were far from agreeable for the representative cricket match between Rotorua and Whakatane teams, played on the Whakatane cricket ground on Saturday. The result was a win /for the home eleven on the first innings. Rotorua opened badly, and the tail also failed to wag, the fourth wicket of M. Curtis, who .compiled 41, being the only one to achieve double figures. All w6re out for 78. Whakatane also started weakly, having three wickets down for 18, but the partnership of McKenzie (53 retired) and Wilson (31 retired) then retrieved the situation, although McKenzie survived two confident appeals early in his strike. The innings ended at 163. Rotorua's second innings liad added 58 when the garne ended. Details : —
