TOKEN STRIKE BY CIVIL SERVANTS

Over 2,000,000 Frenchmen : Cease Duty x PARIS, February |15. Over "2,000,000 civil servants staged a token strike yesterday afternoon as a demonstration of solidarity with the • newspaper wlrkers who are on strike. They held mass meetings urging a general re-scaling of salaries. All transport was halted except taxis and radio stations were off the air for four hours. Post offices were closed, and the telephone service ceased. Polxcemen left their posts and joined the pr.ocessions of civil servants. It is feared that the move may develop into a real strike within a few days.
