A CRITIC OF THE COUNCIL.
OLD REoIDElNT.
To the E'ditor.* Sir, — I fully agree in efvery respect with yoiur correspondent of Hawera, writing in your columns of Tuesday last on the •municipal motor camp. I would go further and say that in all our time we have not had a more dead, inactive council, in what could and sho'iild be one of the best, most spic and span little towns in New Zealand. How our people can be so long-suffer-ing and year after year put up with these drab, dirty conditions of our streets and footpaths in the town and all the suburhan areas is beyond me. I returned only yesterday from a camping holiday as far as Wellington, through the Wairarapa to Hastings and Napier, and tnuly it would surprise one to hear the numher of uncomplimentary remarks concerning Rotorua in these camping areas. Take, for instanee, yesterday (^londay) and again to-day (Tuesday) with a high wind blowing, one was almost blinded with clouds of dust, apart from damage to clothing, furniture or what-nots, and now I see our coiuucil is laying sulphur deposits on the footpaths. What a brain wave! Surely we can bring together a team of men. in this town who will start the ball rolling and make Rotorua without delay a town to be proud to 'live in and a beauty spot to visit. Wake up, citizens. Demand your rights! — >1 am, etc..
