HERD TEST FIGURES FOR DISTRICT
In the Ngakuru- Guthrie area, where 24 test herds totalling 1473 cows are milked, 7531b of milk were yielded. Test was 4.33 and 331b fat, The highest two herds gave 411b fat, according to the December figures supplied by the Auckland Herd Improv.ement Association. The 25 herds totalling 1116 cows in the Ngongotaha-Rotorua area averaged 7541b milk and gave a test of 4.87 and 371b fat. Tbl highest herd of 4H animals gave 491b fat. At Okoroire, where 14 herds of 982 cows gave 7331'b milk, which tested 5.04, with 371b fat. The highest two herds yielded 431b fat. From the 37 herds, comprising 2241 animals at Putaruru, 7551b milk were collected. The test was 4.88, with 371b fat, and from the highest herd of 15 cows the fat yield was 521b. At Tirau, the 1962 cows which make up the district's 31 herds gave 7471b milk and a test of 4.95. Fat yield was 3'71b. The highest two herds gave 451b fat. Tokoroa's 41 herds, totalling 2417 animals, gave 7911b milk, test of 4.80, with 381b fat. The highest herd of 43 cows gave 491b fat.
