New South Wales Jubilant Over Steady Rainfall

SYDNEY, February 13. Steady, soaking rain, which still persists, has ended the drought in the parched western and north-western areas of New South Wales. Earlier rains were light and insufficient to make up for months of dryness. To-day eountry correspondents are jubilant after falls lasting through yesterday and last night. Continuous rain in such areas as Baradine, Coonabarabran, Collarenebri and Moree has broken a drought of nearly a year's duration. Baan Baa reports the best rain for years with the low eountry flooded, and streams 'bank high. Collarenebri has received five to eight inches of rain- since Tuesday, whereas the total rainfall last year was nine inches. Manilla reports the best rain for 19 months.
