PROG..AMME FOR EXTENDING PLATING FACILJTIES. A membersliip of -500, including 278 men, is recorded in the annual report of the Rotorua 'Golf Club, to be presented at the annual meetings on FebruaTy 26. The net profit for the year was £976 11s lOd. Green fees for the year amounted to the reeord"'1 total of £2442, being an increase over last year of £349. Subscifiptions and entrance fees totalled £1478. The heavy cost of maintenance and development work d'uring the year had been met out of mcome. i The total Government Loan Investments were now £1738. Holes Nos. 2, 3 and 17, which had. been reconstructed and lengthened, were now available for play. In order to meet the dfemand of prospeetive players, botb local and visiting, the committee investigated several propositions to assist the formation of a new club, or alternatively to extend the present playing area by acquiring further land adjacent and developing it for another course of 18 holes if possible. It was clear that another course was urgently needed to cater for the demand for play and it' was expected that progress woukl be made during^ the year to meet this demand. The ground staff had again given exeellent service. Mr. F. Ryde recently returned from active service overseas had resumed duties as heacl greenkeeper. Reference is made to the various tciurnaments. The club's principal events resulted as follows: — Sbnior championship, C. N. Blair, intermediate championship, K. Cairns; Junior cup, W. J. Coetello; McDonald Cuij, K. V. Dohnt. The Summer Cup had now become a permanent part of the annual programme and had more than maintained the lceen interest taken in it in the previous year. The winners for H945-46 were C. Blair and G. i A. Bluck. I
Officers due to retire with the ex- i ceptien of three members of the committee, Messrs. S. S-mith, J. Witherow and A. Carruthers, were eligible for re-election. Nominations for officers and three i committee members required to" be in | the hands of the secretary by 5 p.m. | on Wednesday, February 19. Mr. J. B. Purcell was appointed secretary in plarce of Mr. A. W. Clouston, ) who resigned last year. j
