TEA, BUTTER AND SUGAR RATIONING

• Minister Not Hopeful Of Abandonment This Year GISBORNE, Last Night. "I cannot see us escaping from the rationing of tea and sugar for some time, nor do I see much chance in regard to butter," said the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries and Commerce, when addressing the iDominion Grocers' Federation. Both tea and sugar were short by millions of tons, and he did not think rationing would end within the year. Tho pet^jH position had eased to I the extent that it was possible to hand over the "overall oil rationing" to the companies. The new system had worked out satisfactorily, and as soon as possible other forms .of lationing would be dealt with on the same principle. He assured the gathering that the Government would remove rationing at the earliest moment it could be done.
